____________
Imagine a world so bizarre, so unreal, that you could only find it within the pages of a comic book. You've just bought yourself a copy of this strange new comic book that has the appearance of a classical anthology comic: Much like how Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1, or how Iron Man found his debut in Tales of Suspense #39.
You pinch the magazine. For a weekly book, it publishes approximately 48+ pages, impressive! You turn the page and look into the first panel to witness the Golden City: The City known simply as Spectacle City. You see a panel displaying a busy city street. Off on one street corner, an anthromorphic pigeon, like something out of looney tunes, is selling hotdogs and other snacks. To the side, several men, other anthromorphs, and even sentient machines, robots, androids, cyborgs, all referred to as the Autons, are also dressed (or maybe not) as they read a newspaper. On the road are several cars with various drivers, a couple motorcycles, and even some large mechas, some normal robots, and maybe one piloted by a non-auton.
Slipping into an Alleyway is a mysterious figure donning the classic disguise of a trench coat, his feet uncovered to show green legs, and a mere two toes! Two muggers appear and attempt to rob him for what he has, when a stranger in a fedora and domino mask, a pulp hero, descends to dropkick them both, as the disguise of the stranger is lost, and has been revealed to be an Alien, who even by Wonder Comics universe standards, are a rare and secretive sort, as he scurries off screaming in some language unknown to the earth-dwellers, his cries actually being a warning of some kind as he escapes through an open manhole.
excitement rushes through your veins as you turn the page to discover an image in the distance, one which looms over some of the nearby buildings: It's none other than a giant robot, being piloted by some dastardly villain! The next panel reveals something else arriving from the opposite distance: Flying Men and women, some riding on winged mythical beasts, or gadgets such as hoverboards and backpacks with helicopter rotors and joystick controls, others practically flying on their own too, while on the ground, others amass their forces to do battle with the giant iron monster. These are the Science Heroes and their amazing knowledge and powers found in the lab, the mysterious, powerless 'pulps, and the divine forces of the magic-wielding Fantasians, all answering the call for justice.
Your fingers can only tremble as they grow more slick from the sheer work put into the art on these pages, the imagery you're viewing being a beginning to an epic struggle as you reach for the next page of Tales Of Wonder, eager to discover more and answer such questions as who, and where the anthromorphs came from, what a Science Hero is, what the deal is with all the robots, and who could possibly want to take over the world with a giant robot?!
All This and more, In Tales Of Wonder, home of Spectacle City and all of its glory!
