'Argo's' Christopher Denham to Star in Short Film 'Thirst ...

Film to Launch Campaign on Indiegogo LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/30/13 -- Folklore Entertainment announced its inaugural production, "Thirst" starring Christopher Denham (Ben Affleck's Academy Award-winning film "Argo") and featuring Gale Harold ("Queer as Folk"). The film is edited by "Life of Pi" assistant editor, Mike Fay.

Inspired by true events, "Thirst" is a modern fable chronicling the ruinous decline of Billy, an urban nomad wrestling with the consequences of his choices. When he finds temporary work at a skid-row joint in downtown Los Angeles, he is forced to confront a terrifying future in the faces and apparent fates of the bar's life-battered habitues.

"This story is powerfully gripping in how it explores the subversive choices we make and the mercy we sometimes need," says Katie Knab, one of the film's producers whose most recent film, "Flutter," premiered at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival. "Our cast and crew is tackling a tough subject with honesty and grace."

"Thirst" is directed by Rachel McDonald, a passionate, visual storyteller whose work in commercials, music videos and film is infused with beauty and emotion and is written by Michael Albanese, whose personal experiences and struggles were the impetus for this story.

In the spirit of independent film, the filmmakers placed their labor of love into the capable hands of the Indiegogo community, who clearly share a passion for financing dreams through its unique, crowdfunding platform.

The filmmakers will shoot "Thirst" in and around downtown Los Angeles this summer.
