Female sex offender allegedly found on Facebook

A woman listed on the N.C. Sex Offender Registry was arrested Thursday for being on a social networking site, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff?s Office.

A tip led investigators to the discovery, spokesman Larry Seagle said.

Amanda ?Mandie? Lee Flowers, 21, broke her probation and the rules of a registered sex offender by being on Facebook, Seagle said.

Detective Seth Bailey looked on Facebook to find Flowers before going to her home at 308 Hubbard St. in Lincolnton.

Flowers was arrested and charged with sex offender using a social website, which is a felony, and misdemeanor probation violation.

Flowers was convicted of a sex offense and second-degree kidnapping of a minor in 2010. The incident involved a 15-year-old boy. Flowers was 18 at the time, according to the N.C. Sex Offender Registry.

The incident happened in October 2008.

Flowers was convicted and sentenced to five years of probation in 2010.

She was arrested and held at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center in Lincolnton without bond and had a first court appearance Friday morning.
